Doug Drexler is an award winning designer, sculptor, illustrator and makeup artist. He began his career in the entertainment industry in the field of makeup design, earning an Oscar, as well as the British Academy Award and the Saturn Award, for his special makeup effects in the film "Dick Tracy". Two Emmy nominations in the same field followed for three years of work on Star Trek: The Next Generation, where he performed such tasks as aging Captain Picard for "The Inner Light." In 1992 Doug made a career change by moving over to the brand-new Star Trek: Deep Space Nine as designer, digital artist and effects artist. He continued in that capacity on the subsequent Star Trek films as well as Star Trek: Voyager and Enterprise.  Following Enterprise, Doug worked as CG Supervisor on Battlestar Galactica, "Caprica", "Blood and Chrome", and "Defiance". Doug won two Emmy Awards and a Visual Effects Society Award for Galactica. Drexler has also collaborated on a number of nonfiction Star Trek books.

Join Oscar, Emmy, VES, and Saturn award winning artist Drexler for a chat about his work for numerous Star Trek television series and movies. In addition to designing two Enterprises, Doug has held more positions on Star Trek than anyone in the history of the show, including graphic designer, illustrator, VFX artist, and makeup artist. In honor of Deep Space Nine's twenty-fifth anniversary, Drexler will discuss his work on the fan favorite episode "Trials and Tribble-ations", and answer audience questions about ship design, visual effects, graphics and make-up.
